Sliding scale & gifts

What are AETHER SHARDS? They're the energy of the Aether. One message costs 1 shard, a character diary entry 2, a portrait or illustrated scene 10. So 100 shards ≈ 100 messages, or 10 portraits, or a month of good conversations. Shards never expire.
